The Globe Theatre Trip
Posted on: 15/11/2018Y13 English students enjoyed a trip to The Globe this month to learn about the history of theatres in London, the architecture of this particular theatre and the reasons it was built.
We heard all about the archaeological dig and following construction and afterwards went inside and backstage to see where the actors changed and prepared to perform. Each of us were given a line from Othello and had to deliver it on stage, before we headed off to the lecture theatre to discuss a piece of text from the play and the literary reasoning behind the vocabulary used.
After lunch we were given two extracts to perform in small groups in the rehearsal studios.
It was a fascinating experience and one we all enjoyed.
