Kent Festival Pianist of the Year
Posted on: 09/11/2019The Music Department is thrilled to announce that Yamato Kinoshita (Y10) has been awarded ‘Kent Festival Pianist of the Year’.
This is a prestigious, annual competition for pianists aged 13-19, now in it’s 114th year. Yamato has received a bursary of £100 and an invitation to perform in the St Peter’s Concert Series in Canterbury in May 2020.
Yamato was dubbed the ‘most promising pianist of the day’ and had to enter two solo classes, plus one other, in order to be eligible for the award. Yamato is a regular performer within school events and his repertoire includes Tchaikovsky, Rachmanivov and Fukushima. The Department is very pleased to support him and is watching his developing musical career with great interest.
