Microbiology Club - November 2021
Posted on: 08/11/2021Our Microbiology club meets every Wednesday after school when students enjoy investigating the subject beyond the Biology curriculum.
Recently we have learned aseptic technique, made our own agar plates and learned how to make streak and pour plates – safely!
Our current investigation is into the bacterial content of different types of milk. The next investigation is to look for bacteria which can kill other bacteria. We will be using the pond mud as our source of bacteria. And after that we are interested to find out if the good bacteria in yoghurt really do survive stomach acid.
Nine Sixth Form students join Mrs Hayles to investigate these interesting questions every week.
