Y13 Examination Results - August 22
Posted on: 18/08/2022Press Release - Y13 Examination Results - August 2022
As a school we have been celebrating the achievements of our Year 13 students who have collected their examination results today.
There has been a lot of media attention on the fact that Year 13 results are being ‘brought down’ after two years without external examinations, but our Year 13 results at Barton Court this year are excellent which is testimony to the hard work of students and staff as well as the support of our parent body.
Today our students have received their A Level results and deserve tremendous credit for the success they have achieved. Year 13 students receiving exam results this summer experienced significant disruption to their learning whilst they were in Year 12 due to national lockdowns because of Covid-19. The success our students have achieved is, in no small part, due to the determination and resilience they have shown as they have worked to overcome the challenges presented by the pandemic.
Headteacher Jonathan Hopkins commented:
“We are delighted that so many of our students have achieved grades that are enabling them to progress to university or secure high quality employment opportunities. As a cohort our Year 13 students were both talented and hard-working. We are delighted that just over 75% of the grades for this cohort were at A*-B and there is a 100% pass rate at A*-E grades – an outstanding achievement.
Credit must also be given to staff who worked tirelessly during the pandemic to deliver lessons online and in the classroom to enable students to address gaps in their learning so they were supported and able to achieve. In addition, the School benefited from an army of volunteers and helpers who implemented asymptomatic Covid-19 testing to help Barton Court always open up early after ‘lockdowns’ to minimise the disruption to students to get them back into classrooms as quickly as possible. All this support from our wider community helped Year 13 to achieve so well.
Particular recognition should be given to 34 students, out of our cohort of 116, who have been awarded three or more A*/Distinction* grades in their subjects. This is a tremendous achievement and these students rightly deserve additional recognition.
