Y11 Examination Results (GCSEs)
At Barton Court we are celebrating the achievements of our Year 11 students who have collected their examination results today. Year 11 results nationally are in a period of transition after two years without external examinations and results nationally are being ‘managed’ to lower the number of top grades awarded.
The Year 11 results at Barton Court this year are excellent which is testimony to the hard work of students and staff as well as the support of our parent body.
Our students deserve tremendous credit for the success they have achieved. It should be remembered that Year 11 students experienced significant disruption to their learning whilst they were in Year 9-10 due to the national lockdowns imposed because of Covid-19. The success our students have achieved is in no small part is due to the determination and resilience they showed to overcome the challenges presented by the pandemic.
Headteacher Jonathan Hopkins commented:
“We are delighted that so many of our students have achieved grades that are enabling them to progress to university or secure high quality employment opportunities. As a cohort our Year 11 students were both talented and hard-working.
We are delighted that:
- Just over 50% of the grades attained were at grade 7-9
- 58% of students achieved 5 or more grade 7-9s
- 33% of students achieved 8 or more grade 7-9s
Credit must also be given to staff who worked tirelessly during the pandemic to deliver lessons online and in the classroom to enable students to address gaps in their learning so they were supported and able to achieve. In addition, the School benefited from an army of volunteers and helpers who implemented asymptomatic Covid-19 testing to help Barton Court always open up early after ‘lockdowns’ to minimise the disruption to students to get them back into classrooms as quickly as possible. All this support from our wider community helped Year 11 to achieve so well.
