Travel Plan

Barton Court Grammar School Travel Plan sets out how the school will manage and improve travel to and from site for pupils, with a strong focus on safety, health and sustainability. Its aims are to reduce congestion and unsafe parking on Longport Road by encouraging more pupils and staff to walk, cycle or use public transport, thereby reducing the reliance on car journeys.

Key improvements achieved by May 2026 include increasing pupil and staff cycling from 2% to 3%, increasing pupil walking from 22% to 23%. Amongst pupils, 53% use public transport, and 1% use car sharing to travel to school which means 80% of students are using eco-friendly methods of travel. In addition, the school aims to encourage greater uptake of electric vehicles among staff, supported by our new EV charging provision. Travel patterns are monitored through annual surveys, with data shared with staff and governors, and the plan reviewed annually to ensure it remains effective.
