BCGS Year 11 Students Enjoy A level Art Taster Lesson
Posted on: 07/02/2025Some Year 11 students had an A Level Art taster lesson today.
The task they were assigned was to paint a piece of fruit from direct observation using an ‘alla prima’ technique and a limited number of brush strokes. Students were encouraged to simplify the fruit into planes of colour and tone, as well as counting their brush marks to limit the number used. This spontaneous method of painting helped them to paint with more confidence, as well as showing them how to break down an object into simple shapes and colours.
The paintings were made in less than twenty minutes.
