First Place for BCGS Student in National Art Competition!
Posted on: 26/02/2025The Art Department are thrilled to announce Maya in Year 12 has won First Prize in this year’s Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI) Coronation Award for her artwork: ‘Spot the Difference’.
This is a national school’s art competition set up in 2023 to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours host the award which champions excellence in the use of water-based media and promotes the work of young artists.
Judged by a panel of three prominent members of the RI, the competition is open to students aged 11-18 across the UK. Only 40 finalists make it to the online exhibition.
Maya wins £300 worth of art materials, and a materials bursary of £1000 has been awarded to Barton Court as the winning school.
Her prize-winning painting will be displayed at the 213th Exhibition of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours at the Mall Galleries in London.
